A letter from our Queen.
Hello everyone! 2006 was a fulfilled and glorious show season. I met several new horses and people at our shows and other events sponsored by PtHA of Illinois. I was also glad to see so many returning faces and horses at our events this year. I started off my rein as Queen in January when I was officially crowned Miss PtHA of Illinois Queen. The banquet was a Queen's dream come true. I had a blast helping the youth put on their annual fashion show by acting as an English clothing model.
I kicked off the new year by providing food and service at the Juding clinic, cosponsored by the PtHA of IL youth. The hot cocoa kept us warm as we learned ways to improve in the show ring. Shortly after, I was accompanied by the Princess and royalty chair at the Midwest Horse Fair of Illinois. We set up a booth to inform people in Illinois about our club, and get them involved in our events. The trip was successful and very memorable.
Two weeks after arriving back to my hometown of Crystal Lake, I hopped on a plane to Tulsa Oklahoma for the PtHA of America Convention. I learned a lot about the ways in which the club functions at a National level and I was taken on a tour of the new headquarters in Bethany, Oklahoma. I enjoyed meeting the Queens from other states as well as the Queen representatives who work at the National level.
The past show season was busy, but bursting with fun. This was my first year carrying the flag for opening ceremonies and it was an extraordinary feeling. My horse Jack and I had a spectacular time showing in over 30 classes at our breed shows! The open shows were just as fun, providing me and others the opportunity to participate in Jackpot, costume, bareback and the ever popular, egg and spoon class! I encourage everyone to come out and show with us next season, whether it be at our open shows or breed shows, and I personally guarantee all participants will have fun!
I ended the year by serving as the coordinator for a Saddle-Up for St. Jude's event which involves riders getting pledges or sponsors for every mile of trail they ride. The goal is to ride the entire 10 miles. Our participants did just that, while enjoying the scenic ride at Rock Cut State Park in Loves Park, IL. Several of our members earned sponsorships from local businesses or family members, helping the event to raise $1,590.00! Thanks to participants and sponsors for your dedication and generosity.
I hope that next year is just as memorable as 2006! I will be returning as Queen to represent the Pinto Horse Association of Illniois in 2007. The banquet at the Garlands in Barrington, Illinois is where I will be crowned for the next year and I invite everyone to join the club members and their families to celebrate a successful past season and the promise of one to come as Queen for 2007. I look forwrad to attending all our breed and open shows, as well as county fairs and other open shows in the area. I will take every opportunity I can to promote Pinto and raise funds while doing so. I also encourage everyone to attend World this year and show your support for our club. I am eager to meet new people so if you see me at an event, please do not hesitate to introduce yourself and take the time to ask me any questions you have. I look forward to the next year, being that it looks just as promising as this one!
Sincerely,
Cheryl Svejcar
